- We build multi's to your specification's. You tell us how many stems, how much clear trunk and how much curve you want and we will build your palm on site.
Applications
Need a signature, one-of-kind specimen palm for your project? Consider the multi-stem Medjool Date Palm, a very substantial and far more impressive alternative to other multi's such as Phoenix Reclinata. You select the number, and size of the individual stems and we will build your unique palm, at our facility for your approval, with absolutely no obligation to you.
Accessible in from 10' to 35' of clear trunk, landscape architects can literally specify the exact look they desire for their project. Though often a very tricky proposition, Groundworks has mastered the art of relocating these huge specimens and can be relied upon to both meet the architect's specification and execute the operation properly and safely.
Groundworks is fortunate to have secured a steady supply of these scarce multi-stem Medjool Date Palms. We have an excellent assorted inventory of these gorgeous palms on hand for your viewing. Upon receipt of your specifications, we well quote a firm price.

Identifying Characteristics
- Thick canopy of silvery green to dark green. Fronds tend to arch out and downward creating a more tropical look then with other varieties. Wide leaflets and a high frond count give Medjools and dense, stunning appearance. Medjools on site tend to be larger then life and tend to dwarf everything around them. Definitely a focal point.
- Canopy spread after one year on site, 25 feet from tip to tip on each stem.
- Average trunk caliper of 18-20 inches. The outer petiole layer is normally removed by hand using the "Classic Cut" harvesting method. Classic cutting yields a distinctive raised diamond shape trunk appearance that is beautiful and functional. With multi's we often leave the trunk uncut for a more natural appearance. We have found that the natural look tends to work better with multi's because they are usually used in conjunction with other dense plantings and tend to blend better uncut. This is strictly a design consideration and we recommend that you consult your Landscape Architect or Groundworks design representative prior to ordering.
- Commonly, the lower two feet of trunk has a layer of advantageous aerial roots covering it. These roots are normal and can be planted into the ground although most people prefer that we plant as high as possible as the palms are sold by the foot of trunk. The aerial roots are a part of the trunk and if you like, they are easily hidden with under plantings.
- Medjools can grow to as tall as 70 feet and even taller in the desert. However, the growth rate is very slow and is slowed further by our wet conditions. It is best to buy palms near or slightly below the size you need. They are very slow growers and you can expect a foot of new trunk every two to four years.
